Dental Insurance

Dental insurance is offered to all Town employees and their eligible dependents through Ameritas Group and Maine Municipal Employees Health Trust. Dental insurance is 100% paid by the employee on a pre-tax basis and deducted from biweekly payroll. 

Ameritas Group

Employees may enroll at any time for dental insurance; however, when an employee enrolls at the time of hire, a 12-month late entrant provision is waived and full dental benefits are effective as of the first of the following month. Late entrants to the Ameritas Plan will have Basic coverage for the first twelve months only, with the full Plan available after that time.

Should an employee enroll at the time of hire, covered benefits include 100% for certain procedures, 50% for root canals and other major dental procedures, and a $1,000 lifetime per child up to age 17 maximum for Orthodontia. Plan information is available from the Human Resources Department.

Maine Municipal Employees Health Trust

Employees may enroll at the time of hire or during the open enrollment period with Maine Municipal Employees Health Trust (MMEHT). The plan is through Northeast Delta Dental; covered benefits include 100% for preventative/diagnostic services, 80% for basic/restorative services, 50% for major/prosthodontic services, and a $1,250 lifetime per person (adult & child) maximum for orthodontia. Plan information is available from the Human Resources Department.
