Bias Incident Reporting

As the home of Bowdoin College and the former Brunswick Naval Air Station, Brunswick has historically been one of the more diverse communities in Maine. Crimes motivated by bias rarely happen in Brunswick. If you believe you have been the victim of a crime motivated by race, sex, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, religion, national origin, or age, please call 9-1-1 if it is an emergency or otherwise our 24-hour business number is 207-725-5521.

However, even bias incidents which may not be crimes can be very upsetting and we would like to better track them. An event that you “don’t want to bother us” with could be part of a pattern that the community needs to address. We cannot address things we don’t know about. In an effort to better track these incidents and respond when appropriate, we have created the Bias Incident Reporting form. The few minutes it takes to report your incident could provide us with valuable information to help make Brunswick a more welcoming community. The form may be completed anonymously if you wish.

If you are looking for a resource with information on discrimination, the Maine Human Rights Commission website is a great place to start.

Thank you for helping us make Brunswick a more welcoming community!
