Marine Resource Unit

The town of Brunswick has over 1600 acres of inter-tidal shellfish growing areas within the sixty-one miles of coastal shoreline. The Marine Resource Unit provides shellfish management, reseeding programs, marine conservation, and search and rescue.  The Marine Resource Unit is comprised of one full-time police officer / Harbor Master with one part-time sworn assistant.   The Marine Unit conducts patrols from the agency’s power boat and unmanned aerial vehicle.  The unit is often called upon for mutual aid to Maine’s Marine Patrol, Maine Warden Service, neighboring police and sheriff departments, and surrounding Harbor Masters.
