The four-way intersection of Federal St, Mason St, Water St, and Cressey Rd was identified in the MaineDOT Heads Up Pedestrian Safety Action Plan for the Town of Brunswick in March of 2021. The purpose of the project is to improve pedestrian safety and bring sidewalk ramps up to current ADA standards.
The project will convert the intersection from a 3-way stop to a 2-way stop with, Mason Street/Cressey Road free flowing. This will allow the installation of a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) at the intersection to provide an enhanced crossing for pedestrians. Further there are additional changes to enhance intersection sight distance.
A draft copy of the preliminary design report is included below. The town will hold a public meeting to discuss this project at the November 30th Brunswick Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committe meeting.
