The Brunswick Parks & Recreation Department announces the first public meeting to gather community input on the future Midcoast Athletic & Recreation Complex (MARC). The meeting is scheduled for November 18th from 6:30PM – 8:00PM on Zoom.
“The community engagement phase is critical to this effort” stated Tom Farrell, Director of Parks & Recreation. “We want to create a community vision of athletics and recreation and this requires the voices of many residents and stakeholders – in Brunswick and regionally.”
In June 2021, the Town partnered with Town residents and community partners to form an advisory committee to guide the redevelopment of a 10-acre parcel on Brunswick Landing. In October, the Town signed a contract with national firms CHA and GreenPlay to conduct a project feasibility study and community outreach.
The public engagement effort will include:
- Public process including focus groups, interviews, and public meetings;
- Public surveys;
- Financial feasibility of construction and operations, and;
- Creation of a development program and preliminary site design.
“The community engagement phase kicked off earlier this week with over 60 regional partners and stakeholders sharing their initial feedback” said Mike Lyne, chair of the project advisory committee and the Recreation Commission. “This was a strong start and the public meeting and surveys are the next steps in the process.”
