The Brunswick Police Department is pleased to announce is has been awarded a $6,000 grant from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America to support the Department’s “Project Lifesaver” program.
The Project Lifesaver program utilizes technology to quickly locate individuals with cognitive disorders who are prone to the life-threatening behavior of wandering.
Individuals enrolled in the program wear a small transmitter on the wrist or ankle that emits an individual specific frequency signal. If an enrolled client goes missing, a caregiver notifies the Police Department and trained personnel will utilize the technology to locate the client.
This service is being provided FREE to qualified Brunswick residents.
Currently, there are only 8 agencies in the State of Maine utilizing this program.
